Allies Within Range

Classic EraTBC AnniversaryClassic progressionForeverRetail
  • Not available on that edition (the reason is in the tooltip)
  • Depends on the setting, your class or another addon (details in the tooltip)

What it does

Checks how many members of your party or raid are within the distance you set of the unit specified, compared with the number you set. The unit specified counts itself, and Same Group and Include Pets narrow or widen who is counted.

Why you might use it

Count the party or raid members within a distance of a unit. Healers use it to choose group heals such as Prayer of Healing, Chain Heal or Holy Nova when enough allies are close together, and a Paladin or Shaman can tell whether an aura or totem will reach enough of the group. Only party or raid members count (Same Group limits it to your own raid subgroup, Include Pets adds pets), and if positions or ranges cannot be read the whole condition is unavailable. See also Distance Count and Health Percentage Count Within Range.

Example

the number of Party members within 30 yards of you is greater than or equal to 3

Settings

What each setting in the condition editor means, from the game's own help.

Unit - The unit this condition uses as the target of comparison.

Operator - How to compare Allies Within Range with the Count value. This comparison uses basic mathematical comparison operations.

Count - The number of allies whose proximity is measured in relation to Unit. This will only measure the proximity of allies you are in a party or raid with.

Distance - The distance (in yards) allies are measured against.

Same Group - Only count units in the same raid group.

Include Pets - Include pets in the count.

Uses readable positions in the same instance, or player-centered range estimates when positions are unavailable. A unit counts only when its upper range bound is within Distance. Uncertain positions, range, subgroup membership or required health/mana values keep the whole condition unavailable, including under Unless. Percentage checks require a positive maximum; empty aggregates have no result.
