Talent Tree Points

Classic EraTBC AnniversaryClassic progressionForeverRetail
  • Not available on that edition (the reason is in the tooltip)
  • Depends on the setting, your class or another addon (details in the tooltip)

What it does

Checks how many talent points you have spent in the talent tree you choose, compared with the number you set.

Why you might use it

Compares the points spent in one talent tree, which works well as a switch condition for builds that are defined by a tree: a Warrior with 31 or more points in Protection uses the tanking rotation, or a hybrid build gets its own rotation. It is supported on Classic Era, TBC Anniversary and WoW Forever (the three trees of your active loadout, in talent window order), not on Classic progression (Mists) or Retail. Missing points are unavailable, even under NOT. See also Primary Talent Tree, Specialization and Talent.

Example

the number of points spent in Protection is greater than or equal to 31

Settings

What each setting in the condition editor means, from the game's own help.

Talent tree selects the Classic tree whose spent points are compared. Public points are read again on the next evaluation; missing or restricted points are unavailable, including under NOT. Grids and trait trees are unsupported.

Talent trees are named, never numbered: the list shows each tree by name, in the order the talent window shows them, for the class the rotation is for. Your own class takes the names the game gives its trees; another class's rotation uses Rotation Master's own list of that class's trees. The rotation saves the tree's position in that order, so it keeps its meaning when you share it.

Forever is the exception: Talent tree is one of the three talent trees of your active loadout (in the order the talent window shows them); their points are read again after any talent change. Retail has no such trees.

Operator - How to compare Talent Tree Points with the Points value. This comparison uses basic mathematical comparison operations.

Points - Compare whole points spent from zero to 512. An explicit comparison with zero can describe an unspent tree.

Talent tree names

A talent tree is stored as a number, 1 to 3, in the order the talent window lists the trees. The editor and the condition descriptions show your class's tree names instead.
